Education=Empowerment?

So far during our course of Gender, Culture, and Power, we have begun to consistently bump against the idea of women's ongoing mistreatment in many countries and how ultimately these violation of human rights can be dispelled. Like previously mentioned by many people in class and in other current event presentations, there have been many actions already taken place, ranging from defense classes to haven asylums. However, as mentioned in class, these short-term projects may not be the long term solution to forever eradicate the abuse of women, solely because they are women. Thus, that raises the question, what is the best, ideal solution?
In light of our introduction reading to Half the Sky by Kristof, and WuDunn, perhaps education is the solution. According to The World Bank, throughout the recent era, pockets of Asia have been areas of mass human trafficking. However, like continued, on the site, this fact has been brought to the surface and many countries, like Bangladesh have been trying to curb this problem not by jailing the traffickers but rather by empowering girls in the form of education. According to The World Bank, girls enrollment in secondary school in Bangladesh has continued to jump. With more education, there have been seen some improvements, however the fact still remains, human trafficking is still a very pertinent problem. And this is exactly what Half the Sky focuses on.
Thus, I wanted to take this current event as an opportunity to poll/predict if education is the best solution to curb this project. So my guiding question is, In light of our previous discussions and our introduction reading, what do you all think is the best solution in order to curb human trafficking and help women empowerment in general?
